Estimated Project Cost: $3.41M
In 2022, in-line with the Eastwood Park master plan, Clark Condon Associates recommended conceptual improvements to Harrisburg Trail for purposes of enhancing the trail and increasing its attraction to a variety of users, including possibilities of improved lighting, more and better trail amenities, enhanced connectivity to other trails, and safety improvements at the numerous intersections with roadways.
The Harrisburg RDA recently submitted a Community Funding Project Request through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development for purposes of design and construction of safety improvements where the trail crosses 24 local roadways so that pedestrians, cyclists and vehicular traffic can move safely with improved awareness and travel conditions.
Harrisburg RDA has secured funding of $250,000 through a HUD grant. Additional construction funding of $2,530,000 will come from the Texas Department of Transportation along with a $632,000 local match from the TIRZ. Overall, this represents $3,412,000 in public improvements. Construction is expected to begin in 2028.
