Estimated Project Cost: $6.3M
In 2023 Gauge Engineering completed an assessment of conditions of all sidewalks within the boundaries of the Harrisburg RDA and is currently in the process of prioritizing improvements based upon need and understanding of city priorities. Over the next five years, the Harrisburg RDA will spend more than $5M in sidewalk design and improvements to address issues such as gaps in the system, crumbling sidewalks, obstructions, and widths that fail to meet demand or current design standards.
Final signed and sealed design plans were submitted to the City for sidewalk improvements in areas between Lockwood and Burnet Elementary. This project is possible in part thanks to a $500k project match by Harris County Precinct 2.
100% Final Plans have been submitted to the City for sidewalk improvements between Canal St and Polk St.
90% plans have been submitted to the City for sidewalk improvements on 72nd, 73rd, 74th, 75th, and Texas St.
Throughout the duration of the project the TIRZ will continue to seek funds from other parties to expand both impact and resources.
